Sink or Swim: Time to Bid Farewell to the Waiver Wire Wonders

Pierre GarconIt's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

I'll start off first by stating the obvious, that the fantasy hot seat warning got the message through to Ryan Grant, Beanie Wells and Steve Smith last week. Thanks for answering the call, fellas. However, let's not get too excited -- I'm hardly expecting the suspect candidates this week to make instant amends for their most recent performances. We're gonna do things a little different this week and not pick on the stars, but rather the wannabe stars.

Sink or Swim: Beanie Wells, Ryan Grant and the 'Other' Steve Smith

It's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

Welcome everyone to the fantasy hot seat. Where do I even begin? Bye weeks are upon us and it's certainly time for you to make a push for the playoffs. Do you have some dead weight sitting on your roster or even starting for you right now? Relax; most of us are in similar situations. Today, I'd like to welcome in a few guys who were snatched in the early rounds of most drafts and our favorite rookie running back pegged to do damage.

Yes, let's give a warm welcome on the hot seat to Beanie Wells, Steve Smith and Ryan Grant.

Sink or Swim: The Entire Bills Offense

Marshawn LynchIt's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

Did you not think this was coming? Really, you thought this was going to end well? I'm not talking simply about Terrell Owens, rather the entire Bills offense. There was Marshawn Lynch coming off a suspension, a dismantled offensive line, a sketchy QB, and one fired offensive coordinator to add to the misery. Yup, that's a pretty good omen that bad things were on the horizon for the Bills offense.

Sink or Swim: Farewell to the Timeshare

It's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

Well, I've already covered the ailing Cowboys receivers, so go ahead and move on. This was supposed to be the week I was all ready to tell you to rid yourselves of Darren McFadden (now injured) and Braylon Edwards (traded to Jets). They already dodged the hot seat for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean you should hold onto any member of the Oakland Raiders, sorry Zach Miller.

Moving on, Thursday's fantasy hot seat is all about the timeshare running backs. The concept alone is like nails on a chalkboard to any proud fantasy owner. Not every timeshare running back has been a resounding success this season. And so, let's welcome a few of these underwhelming running backs to "sink or swim."

Sink or Swim: The Sleepers Are Still Sleeping, Somebody Hit Snooze

Josh MorganIt's another session of "Sink or Swim" Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

We all had our favorite sleepers heading into the season. Happens every single year and you're doing something wrong if you don't take a flier on a sleeper or have your eyes locked in on a few. However, the hard part always comes a few weeks into the season when roster space starts evaporating due to the waiver-wire wonders. When is it time to give up already and admit you were wrong on your so-called sleeper?

I wish it was an easy answer, but unfortunately it's not. And so today, we ponder the fates of Josh Morgan, James Davis and Chris Henry. All of whom caught our eye as potential sleepers that have yet to pay off.

Sink or Swim: Denver Broncos Receivers

It's another session of "Sink or Swim" Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

We are only two weeks into the season, so this is not the time to let your preconceived notions -- or preseason hype -- cloud your train of thought. This is the time to make clear and concise decisions about the future of your team. First and foremost, you never cut your stars. But if somebody that kinda-sorta-marginal-to-decent guy ain't performing up to par, don't think twice before cutting him.

Sink or Swim: Dallas Cowboys Receivers

Roy WilliamsWe are only two weeks into the season, but if you're sitting at 0-2 in any of your fantasy leagues, it might be time to make a few minor roster tweaks. No, it's certainly not a time to panic, but that sense of desperation must be setting in for you. Relax, we're in this together. The best way to get back on the right track (aside from pulling off a lopsided trade) is to trim the fat so to speak.

So, let's talk about who is floating at the mediocrity level and if they can redeem themselves or if you should spare yourself the wait. That's right, it's the weekly round of "Sink or Swim" where I get to shed the pessimistic, or in some cases, optimistic perspective on the fantasy underachievers. Let's look no further than the hit-or-miss/boom-or-bust Dallas Cowboys wide receivers and give them a warm round of applause, because today they are on the hot seat.

Do you keep 'em or cut 'em? Let dig a little deeper first.

Sink or Swim: L.J., Bush and Fast Willie

The saying goes "there's no loyalty in sports anymore." Take that saying and multiply it ten-fold when it comes to fantasy sports. We live in a numbers world and if you can't produce you're of no use. Who cares what you did last year, month or even week. This rings so very relevant for us fantasy football fanatics. We could care less if some dude helped us in our league last year -- if he ain't doing anything presently, he can see his way to the waiver wire.

Well, that's where I come into the picture as your "pessimistic" voice of reason. You should never cut the bait too soon for anyone on your fantasy team who is deemed with the tag line of "upside." However, when you see a guy visibly on the decline and roster space is scarce, sometimes you've just gotta pull the trigger to save yourself the ongoing agony. I'm tossing three names on the hot seat that you should monitor closely and consider moving in a trade ASAP or send them packing if they don't produce soon.

Let's get after it, shall we?
