It's "Run, Ricky, Run!" Week here at Fantasy FanHouse, as we witnessed <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ricky-williams/4653" class="injectedLink">Ricky Williams</a> thrust himself into the ranks of other must-start running backs. First, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ronnie-brown/7178" class="injectedLink">Ronnie Brown</a> went down for the season, next Ricky provided fantasy owners with a three-touchdown monster performance. Tom Herrera and Matt Snyder discuss much more, though. We talk about possible gifts for those who have been underachieving in fantasy (akin to the positive pregnancy test that seemed to have jump-started <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ladainian-tomlinson/5452" class="injectedLink">LaDainian Tomlinson</a>), major injury fallout and, of course, our Starting Six Pack for the week. Take a listen after the jump.<br /><br /> <center> <embed height="52" width="300" src="http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_black.swf" quality="high" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="valid_sample_rate=true&amp;external_url=http://aolradio.podcast.aol.com/fanhouse/fantasy-football-cram-11-20-09.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed> <br />

The next bit of information gave Edwards new hope as interim head coach Perry Fewell wanted to wait until Wednesday to make a decision. Brian Galliford of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/11/18/1163231/fewell-sticks-with-fitzpatrick-at"><em>Buffalo Rumblings</em></a> wrote on Wednesday that Fewell had made the decision to go with Fitzpatrick.<blockquote>
<div>Ryan Fitzpatrick is taking first-team reps at quarterback in Perry Fewell's first practice as interim head coach of the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/buffalo-bills">Buffalo Bills</a>. Fewell confirmed this fact after practice. That bit of news confirms an NFL.com report from Wednesday - prior to the firing of Dick Jauron - that Fitzpatrick would be the club's starter.</div>
</blockquote><br />Mark Gaughan of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.buffalonews.com/452/story/866543.html"><em>The Buffalo News</em></a> says that many of the receivers are very happy about this decision, including <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/terrell-owens/3664">Terrell Owens</a>, who gave Fitzpatrick a ringing endorsement.<blockquote>
<div>"I think Ryan, No. 1, is a veteran," Owens said. "He has a lot more experience. There are some situations where he'll be able to buy time with that experience. There will be some times where he can assess the defense and really take some shots down the field. We're looking forward to the opportunity with Ryan. Obviously he was 2-1 before the bye week when he was in there. Personally I felt like it was his job to lose. But again, there are things that are out of our control."</div>
</blockquote><a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/lee-evans/6772">Lee Evans</a> was also supportive of Fitzpatrick. "I think some of the things that Fitz does are really good," Evans said. "When he played before, he stepped up and made some big plays. So I think it'll help. We have a lot of confidence in him. I'm excited to see him play."<br /> <br /> This could give a small bump in value to Evans and Owens but not enough to make them anything other than a FLEX option for Week 11. If Fitzpatrick does start working some magic in Buffalo that Edwards was unable to perform, well, then we can take a look at sliding the receiver tandem up into WR2 territory. But, that's not a given by any stretch of the imagination.<br /> <br /> <strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br /> <br /> o. Greg Cote of <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.herald.com/random_evidence/2009/11/our-wednesday-live-online-chat-returns-to-its-familiar-1-2-pm-slot-this-week-get-questions-in-early-by-clicking-on-mad-ch.html"><em>The Miami Herald</em></a> confirms the news that <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ronnie-brown/7178">Ronnie Brown</a> has been placed on the injured list and will miss the rest of the season. This is a huge blow to the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/miami-dolphins">Dolphins</a> and to a great number of fantasy football teams. However, it makes <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ricky-williams/4653">Ricky Williams</a> uber-valuable now.<br /> <br /> o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jamarcus-russell/8255">JaMarcus Russell</a> is out as the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/oakland-raiders">Oakland Raiders</a> starting quarterback says David White of the <a target="_blank" href="http://twitter.com/bydavidwhite/status/5839657819"><em>San Francisco Chronicle</em></a>. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/bruce-gradkowski/7943">Bruce Gradkowski</a> takes over and forces me to ask, "What took the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/oakland-raiders">Raiders</a> so long?"<br /> <br /> o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/michael-turner/6913">Michael Turner</a> missed practice on Wednesday, but hasn't ruled himself out for Sunday. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jerious-norwood/7828">Jerious Norwood</a> didn't practice either, but worked out on one of the side-fields at Flowery Branch. I feel that both are long-shots to play against the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-giants">Giants</a>, who give up a ton of rushing touchdowns. That could make <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jason-snelling/8498">Jason Snelling</a>, the de facto starter at running back, <a target="_blank" href="http://twitter.com/knoxbardeen/status/5842003364">a good Week 11 play</a>.<br /> <br /><a target="_blank" href="http://www.twitter.com/FantasyFanHouse"><img hspace="4" border="1" align="right" vspace="4" alt="Follow Fantasy FanHouse" id="vimage_2" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/media/2009/11/fantasy-fanhouse-twitter.jpg" /></a>o. According to Charles Chandler and David Scott, who cover the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/carolina-panthers">Carolina Panthers</a> for the <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2009/11/johnson-doubtful-for-dolphins.html"><em>Charlotte Observer</em></a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/deangelo-williams/7776">DeAngelo Williams</a> did not practice on Wednesday. As Week 11 games approach, bumps and bruises have turned into full-blown, shut-down injuries -- thrusting backup players into starting roles. There are a few of these situations at the running back position this week. These can have major fantasy football implications. Just as in real sports, you need to take advantage of these opportunities to help your fantasy team.<br /><br />According to Armando Salguero of <a target="_blank" href="http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2009/11/strange-45-minutes-in-the-dolphins-locker-room.html"><em>The Miami Herald</em></a>, the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/miami-dolphins">Dolphins</a> have ruled <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ronnie-brown/7178">Ronnie Brown</a> out for Thursday night's game. <br /><blockquote>Running back <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ricky-williams/4653">Ricky Williams</a>, expected to start for the Dolphins at running back because Brown is out, agreed to speak to the media for the first time in several weeks today. The reason he agreed is because he was told by the Dolphins if he did not cooperate with the media, he risked being fined.</blockquote>Williams, who splits carries with Brown, is already a top-15 fantasy running back. Imagine how much more valuable he'll be while getting the full workload of carries. He's a solid RB1 this week against a Carolina run defense that ranks 25th in the NFL.<br /><br />

Geoff Mosher of <a href="http://blogs.delawareonline.com/eagles/2009/11/17/westbrook-seeking-more-test-opinions/" target="_blank"><em>The News Journal</em></a> says that <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/lesean-mccoy/9317">LeSean McCoy</a> has stepped up and needs to continue to grow as a runner since <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/brian-westbrook/5977">Brian Westbrook</a> is still having tests done after another concussion.<br /><blockquote>With Brian Westbrook out for at least a few weeks, and maybe the rest of the season, the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/philadelphia-eagles">Eagles</a> need to speed up rookie LeSean McCoy's learning curve. He's shown tremendous promise in Westbrook's absence, leading the team in rushing and averaging 4.1 yard per carry, along with explosion and sharp cut-back ability. Now that he's the focal point of the rushing attack, the coaches need to get him going early.<br /></blockquote>McCoy is an interesting low-end RB2 option this week as the Eagles travel to Chicago and face the 21st-ranked <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/chicago-bears">Bears</a> rush defense.<br /><br /><strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br /><br />o. In fact, he owes a whole lot of fantasy football owners a touchdown after kneeling on the one-yard line instead of scoring a go-ahead touchdown against the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-jets" class="injectedLink">New York Jets</a>.<br /><br />With under two minutes left in the game, the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-jets" class="injectedLink">Jets</a> had no timeouts, a one-point lead and the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/jacksonville-jaguars" class="injectedLink">Jacksonville Jaguars</a> driving in the red zone. The Jets decided to let Jones-Drew score so they would have plenty of time for a game-winning drive of their own. Toni Monkovic of <a href="http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/16/maurice-jones-drews-very-smart-play/" target="_blank"><em>The New York Times</em></a> gives <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/jacksonville-jaguars" class="injectedLink">Jaguars</a> head coach Jack Del Rio a ton of credit for foiling that plan.<br /><blockquote>"Maurice Jones-Drew did the unselfish thing at the end," Del Rio said. "I had talked to him on the sidelines and told him that when he popped free to stop on the 1, take the air out of this game and let <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/josh-scobee/6896" class="injectedLink">Josh Scobee</a> win it with essentially an extra-point try."<br /><br />As Jones-Drew approached the goal line for an easy score against the Jets, he took a knee at the 1-yard line. Jacksonville then ran seconds off the clock and won with a short field goal on the last play. But the move wasn't for the faint of heart. The Jaguars were behind by a point. Had the hold been fumbled, had the kick been shanked, Del Rio would have been roasted on a spit of criticism.<br /></blockquote>The best part about the entire situation -- forget that this was an incredible heads-up football play -- is that Jones-Drew felt bad after the game and <a href="http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2009/11/16/maurice-jones-drew-apologizes-to-fantasy-owners-for-not-scoring/" target="_blank">apologized to his fantasy football owners</a>.<br /><br />Feel better with the knowledge that Jones-Drew not only took a knee one yard before scoring a touchdown that could have vaulted your fantasy team to victory, he also kept six points from his fantasy football team as the Jaguars running back owns himself in a league.<br /><br />The fact that we're all smiles and sunshine is reflected on Jones-Drew and his willingness to apologize for his actions, even though he was told not to score. The scary, hypothetical question remains: What would we be saying if he scored on Sunday and later said, "I needed the touchdown to seal my fantasy victory"?<br /><br /><strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br /><br />o. Jerry McDonald of <a href="http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2009/11/15/postgame-wrap-11/" target="_blank"><em>The Oakland Tribune</em></a> says that Tom Cable is unsure whether <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jamarcus-russell/8255" class="injectedLink">JaMarcus Russell</a> is still the starting quarterback in Oakland. His ankle injury caused him to only practice on Wednesday in a limited capacity. <br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/matt-hasselbeck/4416">Matt Hasselbeck</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/seattle-seahawks">Seahawks</a> - Hasslebeck was limited in practice on Wednesday with a host of injuries. The quarterback is just banged up due to poor pass protection. He'll play on Sunday.<font color="#5c5858" size="+1"><br />

o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/matthew-stafford/9265">Matthew Stafford</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/detroit-lions">Lions</a> - Stafford was limited in practice on Wednesday and says he is still learning to trust his knee which hasn't completely healed yet. He's expected to play on Sunday.<br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Brett+Favre/">Brett Favre</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/minnesota-vikings">Vikings</a> - Favre was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hip injury. The running back rarely sits out at practice, so keep a close eye on this.<br />
<br />

His absence seemed more precautionary than anything. Coaches hope he'll practice today -- as do fantasy owners.<br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ladell-betts/5942">Ladell Betts</a>, Redskins - Betts was unable to practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Be careful with him this week as he missed practice already on Wednesday.<br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/lance-moore/7544">Lance Moore</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-orleans-saints">Saints</a> - Moore missed practice on Wednesday, which is becoming a habit. <br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/roddy-white/7203">Roddy White</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a> - White was limited in practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. He'll likely play on Sunday but is facing a tough matchup like his Week 9 game against the Redskins.<br />

If he's unable to go, expect <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kenny-britt/9294">Kenny Britt</a> to see extra action.<br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/bernard-berrian/6837">Bernard Berrian</a>, Vikings - Berrian as limited in practice on Wednesday as he's still trying to fully recover from his hamstring injury. He's rested from the Vikings bye week and will play on Sunday.<br />

This is good news for <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jason-hill/8330">Jason Hill</a>, who caught two touchdown passes from Alex Smith in Week 9.<br />
<br />
o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/antonio-bryant/5949">Antonio Bryant</a>, Buccaneers - Bryant missed practice due to his knee which caused him to marked inactive last week. Until he's proven healthy, he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.<br />

The troubled RB who was once famed and beloved in many a fantasy circle is now simply an after thought. Aside from his horrid play of the field, his off-field antics and foul mouthed tweets were simply enough for the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/kansas-city-chiefs" class="injectedLink">Chiefs</a> to pull the plug. He was cranking up to the tune of less than 3.0 yards per carry on the season. And let's just be honest who cares, because it's been years since Johnson has been relevant. <br /> <br /> This news should come as little surprise. However, a funny thing happens away from the reality side of the story. That's right, the <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/" class="injectedLink">fantasy football</a> world begins to turn on it's axis with visions of glory and/or delusions that somehow Johnson being set free could be a blessing in disguise. Where will LJ end up? Is he worth nabbing off the waiver wire? Oh man, the many possibilities, but don't get ahead of yourself. First off, he'll need to audition and then he'll need to prove he's still worthy of a shot. With the season growing towards the end...how excited can you really be about LJ the free agent?<strong><br /><br /> Other Fantasy Football Notes<br /></strong> o. This whole RB situation for the Texans ... <a target="_blank" href="http://bleacherreport.com/articles/286862-fantasy-clarity-ryan-moats-and-steve-slaton">well, it's simply a mess</a>. Who do you trust more? <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/steve-slaton/8866">Steve Slaton</a> or <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ryan-moats/7253">Ryan Moats</a>? Well, many Slaton owners were led to believe that this was just a message being sent from his head coach. Why panic, because after all, earth would certainly bring Ryan Moats a wake-up call this weekend. Well, it kinda-sorta didn't happen. Moats received a majority of the carries, scored a TD, but also coughed up a fumble. Slaton managed to score a TD himself, but there wasn't much feel of encouragement that Slaton was/is going to get his job back anytime soon. Thank God the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/houston-texans">Texans</a> have a bye week coming up and maybe, just maybe, this mess will shake out. Doubt it though.<br /> <br /> o. You probably want to hit the waiver wire ASAP <a target="_blank" href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/11/08/waiver-wire-wonders-one-man-gathers-what-another-man-spills/">and grab yourself Ladell Betts</a>. He took over the workhorse duties for a concussed <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/clinton-portis/5937">Clinton Portis</a>. And you have to feel <a target="_blank" href="http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/nov/09/concussion-shelves-redskins-portis-early-in-loss/">that Portis won't be returning anytime soon</a> -- that's just how concussions work these days. Besides, Portis should feel zero sense of urgency to come back to a team going nowhere. Let me refresh your memory back to 2006 when Betts closed the season strong as a solid waiver wire sensation that probably helped win a few titles. <br /> <br /> o. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/2009/11/08/20091108cardsnotebook-CR.html">Anquan Boldin is not a happy camper for the Cardinals</a>. He worked out before the game and expected to play against the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/chicago-bears">Bears</a>, but was a late scratch. Of course, nobody told Boldin about this and he is pretty upset. Ah yes, another case of an angry WR despite the fact that his team just won a big road game. OK, I'm giving Boldin more benefit of the doubt. He's not a diva, he just really, really wanted to play. This should blow over soon enough.<br /> <br /> o. Cue up that open roster spot, because <a target="_blank" href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4637906">Trent Edwards is close to coming back</a>. Yes, I kid, I kid. Regardless, it's worth pointing out for anyone who stills owns and/or plays the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/buffalo-bills">Bills</a>' skilled offensive players. I pose this question for you to think about: Does this help or hurt the Bills moving forward? Hmm. <br /> <br /> o. <a target="_blank" href="http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=ArOiowpx3iH79ctn9DMdZe5DubYF?slug=ap-bengals-henry&amp;prov=ap&amp;type=lgns">The Bengals have lost Chris Henry for the season</a>. Henry broke his arm during the win against the Ravens on Sunday. It's certainly not the biggest fantasy news, but Henry was obtaining a more active role in the offense and certainly had the upside to be a lift for the Bengals down the stretch.<br /> <br /> o. From the "do we really care" department, Michael Vick is hinting <a target="_blank" href="http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Michael-Vick-doesn-t-sound-so-thrilled-about-bei?urn=nfl,201166">he's not having much fun being on the Eagles</a>. Let the rumors begin about Vick to the Bills. <br /> <br /> o. Aside from the likes of Brees, Brady and Manning, is there a hotter fantasy QB than <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/tony-romo/6624">Tony Romo</a> right now? In his last 4 games he's averaging 306 passing yards per game and 2.25 touchdowns. In that time he's thrown only one INT. Not bad for a guy who was left for dead earlier this season. <br /> <style type="text/css"> .fanhouseButton {margin:2em 0;} .fanhouseButton a:link, .fanhouseButton a:visited, .fanhouseButton a:hover, .fanhouseButton a:active {background-color:#dd2829;color:#FFFFFF;font-size:18px;padding:0.3em 0.6em;text-decoration:none;} .fanhouseButton a:hover {background-color:#000000;}</style>

Matt Snyder and Tom Herrera bring you the weekly FanHouse fantasy football podcast on a Saturday this week, for various administrative reasons -- none of which have anything to do with fantasy football. We will discuss the return of Brian Westbrook and Calvin Johnson. Snyder defends his love of Steve Slaton, even in the face of adversity, we talk about how Austin Collie is who everyone thought Anthony Gonzalez would be and, finally, why Herrera recently had a Seinfeldian experience in New York (not really, but Snyder is <em>Seinfeld</em> obsessed). Take a listen after the jump.<br /><br /> <center> <embed height="52" width="300" src="http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_black.swf" quality="high" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="valid_sample_rate=true&amp;external_url=http://aolradio.podcast.aol.com/fanhouse/fantasy-football-cram-11-07-09.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed> <br />

OK, let's be fair and emphasize the word "appears." Nothing is certain until I actually see Johnson in uniform and jogging onto the field. However, the notion and possibility of his return is probably the best news many Megatron owners such as myself have heard in quite sometime. <br /> <br /> It's been far too long to not have this ubber stud in our line-ups. And trust me, this is speaking from a guy who owns Johnson in every single league. I drafted him in the first round every time around. He was who I wanted and this is not what I was expecting. Take the good with the bad, but I'm expecting all good if he finally plays again this weekend. And of course, it should also be noted he's the only player on the field that gives the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/detroit-lions">Lions</a> a chance to win a football game.<br /> <br /> As a sidebar to this same story, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-smith/8841">Kevin Smith</a> will most likely suit up and play for the Lions as well.<strong><br /><br /> Other Fantasy Football Notes.</strong><br /> o. <a href="http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-falcons/white-baker-expected-to-188610.html?cxtype=rss_sports_82014" target="_blank">Roddy White returned to practice</a> for the Falcons from a semi-mysterious knee injury. Of course, not to force panic upon anyone, but the words "limited" were circled around his Friday activities. As always, the suggestion would be to monitor this closely come Sunday morning. <br /> <br /> o. <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/11/06/cards-wr-boldin-bears-wr-hester-questionable/">Both Anquan Boldin and Devin Hester appear iffy</a> for this weekends showdown between the Cardinals and the Bears. However, both insist they will play. Hester actually practiced on Friday, so you can kinda lean on that positive. However, for Boldin you have to bless the man for trying, but he's been hobbling around in the past few games. You wonder if a game off might help? <br /> <br /> o. For those holding out hope that <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/anthony-gonzalez/8286" class="injectedLink">Anthony Gonzalez</a> could still make up for lost time with a strong finish, better change that plan. It's the breakout season that just wasn't meant to be. <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/06/arthroscopic-surgery-for-anthony-gonzalez/" target="_blank">Gonzalez will undergo surgery on his injured knee</a> after a setback in practice and now he's out for at least another 2-3 weeks. Why not just call it a season already A-Gonz? If you haven't already, it's time to cut him loose from your fantasy team. <br /> <br /> o. Not that it's much of reason for excitement, but <a href="http://www.rototimes.com/nfl/player.php?tqid=6561&amp;type=news&amp;nid=67426" target="_blank">Darren McFadden will be back after the Raiders' bye week</a>. His role of course, we haven't a clue. His value in fantasy football ... well, not good. <br /> <br /> o. We all know you shouldn't tick <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/tom-brady/5228" class="injectedLink">Tom Brady</a> off before facing him on Sunday. Yet, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/joey-porter/4723" class="injectedLink">Joey Porter</a> seems to think his play can back up his talk when he proclaimed that <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=4629022" target="_blank">Tom Brady is a protected man or has his own set of rules</a>. That said, I'd expect Brady repays Porter and his <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/miami-dolphins" class="injectedLink">Dolphins</a> mates with a thrashing this week like only he can deliver. The over/under on TD's is at (4.5) and the over is getting hammered. Yeah, it's gonna be nice to start Brady this week. <br /> <br /> o. Lastly, you should be pretty <a target="_blank" href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4630326">safe with Aaron Rodgers and Donald Driver</a> as both are listed as probable this weekend, but did manage to practice Friday. <br /> <style type="text/css">

The <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/indianapolis-colts" class="injectedLink">Colts</a> have the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/" class="injectedLink">NFL</a>'s seventh-ranked pass defense and they have only allowed three passing touchdowns all season (making them the stingiest in the NFL). The <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/houston-texans" class="injectedLink">Houston Texans</a> are the NFL's third-best passing team and have thrown 16 touchdown passes in eight games. <br /><br />Things this week, have, uh, changed a bit.<br /><br />We have learned the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/11/06/bob-sanders-reportedly-out-for-season-colts-secondary-in-shambl/" target="_blank">Colts will be missing three of their top five defensive backs</a>. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kelvin-hayden/7236" class="injectedLink">Kelvin Hayden</a> is out for a month while both <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/bob-sanders/6803" class="injectedLink">Bob Sanders</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/marlin-jackson/7205" class="injectedLink">Marlin Jackson</a> will miss the remainder of the season. It should be noted that the Colts have been able to survive without these guys all on different occasions, but to lose all three in one week is a big blow.<br /><br />One thing these injuries don't impact is the Colts' pass rush. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/dwight-freeney/5897" class="injectedLink">Dwight Freeney</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/robert-mathis/6474" class="injectedLink">Robert Mathis</a> are relentless in pursuit of the quarterback from the outside and only four teams have more sacks than the Colts (20) this season. If Houston can find a way to protect <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/matt-schaub/6849" class="injectedLink">Matt Schaub</a>, though, there will be holes in the Indy secondary. <br /><br />Expect lots of zone, but <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jerraud-powers/9356" class="injectedLink">Jerraud Powers</a> will likely get the assignment of guarding <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/andre-johnson/6339" class="injectedLink">Andre Johnson</a> any time the Colts play man coverage. Though he's started seven games this season -- due to the massive injuries to the defensive backfield -- Powers is only 5-foot-9 and a rookie. He's not equipped to deal with the know-how of 'Dre -- much less his athleticism or 6-foot-3 frame. <br /><br />Opposite Powers, rookie <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jacob-lacey/9544" class="injectedLink">Jacob Lacey</a> will make his second start of the season. The Colts will rotate in <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/tim-jennings/7811" class="injectedLink">Tim Jennings</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/t.j.-rushing/7987" class="injectedLink">T.J. Rushing</a>. Simply put: safeties <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/melvin-bullitt/8563" class="injectedLink">Melvin Bullitt</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/antoine-bethea/7956" class="injectedLink">Antoine Bethea</a> will need to provide lots of support in the pass defense. In turn, this should also open up running lanes, as the Colts' front seven usually relies on safety help to effectively stop the run. <br /><br />On the opposite side of the football, I do not believe the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/houston-texans" class="injectedLink">Texans</a>' mediocre pass defense can do anything to stop <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/peyton-manning/4256" class="injectedLink">Peyton Manning</a> and the NFL's top passing offense. <br /><br />Add it up and we have a veritable <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/" class="injectedLink">fantasy football</a> paradise. The scoreboard operator is going to be busy in Indy this weekend, thus, your fleaflicker live scoreboard should as well -- so long as you own some Colts and Texans. <br /><br />I expect Manning and Schaub to both be among the top five quarterbacks. <br /><br />Johnson and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/reggie-wayne/5477" class="injectedLink">Reggie Wayne</a> could easily be<span style="font-style: italic;"> the</span> top two receivers. <br /><br /><a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/dallas-clark/6360" class="injectedLink">Dallas Clark</a> should always be started anyway. <br /><br />I'd get <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/austin-collie/9391" class="injectedLink">Austin Collie</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-walter/6591" class="injectedLink">Kevin Walter</a> in as WR3 or flex plays. If you are desperate for a bye-week fill-in, take a look at <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/pierre-garcon/8982" class="injectedLink">Pierre Garcon</a> and then <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jacoby-jones/8327" class="injectedLink">Jacoby Jones</a>. <br /><br />You already know <a target="_blank" href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/11/05/fantasy-football-week-9-rankings-rb/">I love a bounce-back game</a> for <a href="http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Steve+Slaton/">Steve Slaton</a>, but with the safeties in Indy needing to lend so much more help to the pass defense, I like him even more. <a href="http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Ryan+Moats/">Ryan Moats</a> is a viable flex play in deep leagues as well. For the Colts, they won't find running lanes easy, but <a href="http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Joseph+Addai/">Joseph Addai</a> is still an RB2 as he'll find good enough work through the air. <br /><br />As I said, it's a whole lotta fantasy football fun in Indy this Sunday. Enjoy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/11/06/colts-injuries-are-fantasy-football-gains/">Colts' Injuries are Fantasy Football Gains</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com">Fantasy Football Fanhouse</a> on Fri, 06 Nov 2009 14:15:00 EST . Hill Jr.of the <a href="http://startelegramsports.typepad.com/cowboys/2009/11/roy-williams-is-admittedly-frustrated-but-says-he-is-not-mad-.html"><em>Fort Worth Star-Telegram</em></a> knows that Roy Williams is frustrated with his numbers as a receiver this season. And Williams is quick to tell everyone who will listen that it's not all his fault.<br /><blockquote>But he wants everyone to know it's not all on him -- especially when passes are high or behind him. <br /><br />"It makes me look like crap," Williams said. "The only thing that keeps me going is cause I now I'm not. I know what I am. I know what people are trying to make me be. I know I'm not that."<br /></blockquote>And if throwing <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/tony-romo/6624">Tony Romo</a> under the bus wasn't bad enough, Williams had to make sure that he tried to alienate as many members of the offensive first string as he could. <br /><br />Mike Florio of <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/04/roy-williams-says-hes-not-on-the-same-page-with-tony-romo/"><em>Pro Football Talk</em></a> wrote about the continuation of Williams' tirade, claiming that he had a little more tact that Owens when T.O. spouted off last season.<br /><blockquote>"It's not even funny. Not even close... I'm the No. 1 receiver. But things are just going No. 2's way."<br /><br />"He gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs [from Romo to Williams] are everywhere right now."<br /></blockquote>Williams may have been a little more diplomatic with his knife in the back of Romo and <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/miles-austin/8021">Miles Austin</a> (Dallas' No. 2 wide receiver) but there is still no good that will come from lashing out. Dallas is on a three game winning streak and Austin and Romo are big parts of that success. If Williams wants to be revered as a No. 1 receiver, something that he's not even close to becoming for Dallas or for fantasy football GM's, extra work on the practice field and in the weight room may be in order instead of crybaby antics.<br /><br /><strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br />o. I'm not sure what's more deserving of a yawn. The fact that Cleveland actually will play in a Monday Night Football game or the fact that we still have to talk about Eric Mangini and his inability to stick with a decision at quarterback. Mary Kay Cabot of <a href="http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/11/eric_mangini_says_he_expects_t.html"><em>The Plain Dealer</em></a> says that Mangini won't name his starter at quarterback until early next week. The <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/cleveland-browns">Browns</a> are currently in their bye week but play Baltimore on Monday night in Week 10.<br /><br />o. David Moore of the <a href="http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/11/phillips-closer-to-seeing-the-barber-we.html"><em>Dallas Morning News</em></a> is the provider of music to the ears of fantasy football owners who have held on to <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/marion-barber/7285">Marion Barber</a>. According to Moore, head coach Wade Phillips raved about Barber after practice on Wednesday saying, "More and more, I think we'll see the Marion Barber that we know and love."<br /><br />o. Even though the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/san-francisco-49ers">49ers</a> offensive line is shuffling a bit, Matt Maiocco of the <a href="http://blog.pressdemocrat.com/49ers/2009/11/news-and-notes-from-wednesday-in-49erland.html"><em>Santa Rosa Press Democrat</em></a> says <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/vernon-davis/7755">Vernon Davis</a> will not stay back to help in pass protection. Davis has exploded onto the scene this season and his pass-catching skills are too important to San Francisco to take him out of his route running duties.<br /><br />o. Josh Looney, who is the <a href="http://twitter.com/JoshLooney/status/5429842535"><em>Kansas City Chiefs Insider</em></a>, says that newly acquired <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/chris-chambers/5499">Chris Chambers</a> could see action this week.<br /><br />o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/nate-burleson/6407">Nate Burleson</a> leads the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/seattle-seahawks">Seahawks</a> in receptions and receiving yards this season and has sporadically returned punts, but Danny O'Neil of <a href="http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawksblog/2010201878_lbwillherringonlyexpectedabsencefrompractice.html?syndication=rss"><em>The Seattle Times</em></a> says that he'll take over full-time punt return duties starting in Week 9. This is great news if you're in a league that awards fantasy points for return yards.<br /><br />o. <a href="http://www3.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/chargers/2009/nov/04/hardwick-works-starters/"><em>The San Diego Union-Tribune</em></a> is reporting that center <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/nick-hardwick/6825">Nick Hardwick</a> will return to the offensive line for San Diego in Week 9. He did not practice on Wednesday and it's looking like Week 9 will not be the week he starts. <br /> <br /> o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/anquan-boldin/6390">Anquan Boldin</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/arizona-cardinals">Cardinals</a> - The coaching staff has listed Boldin as day-to-day, but the receiver missed practice on Wednesday and may not be able to play on Sunday.<br /> <br /> o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/roddy-white/7203">Roddy White</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a> - The Falcons were not required to release an injury report today since they did not practice, but the team estimated that White would not have practiced due to his knee injury.<br /><br />o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/mario-manningham/8872">Mario Manningham</a>, Giants - Manningham was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He says that he's feeling better but it's not known whether he'll be able to play on Sunday.<br /><br />o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/lance-moore/7544">Lance Moore</a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-orleans-saints">Saints</a> - Moore has been icing his ankle all week and is in a walking boot. If so, it may be time to do some Damage Control.</em><br /> <br /> <strong><font color="#5c5858" size="+1">Quarterback<br /> <br /> </font></strong>o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/aaron-rodgers/7200" class="injectedLink">Aaron Rodgers</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/green-bay-packers" class="injectedLink">Packers</a> - Rodgers has been sacked 31 times this season to lead the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/" class="injectedLink">NFL</a>. On Sunday he sprained his toe. His opposite foot was already injured, so watch to see how well he's moving around this week. I would expect him to play through these foot injuries.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jake-delhomme/4555" class="injectedLink">Jake Delhomme</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/carolina-panthers" class="injectedLink">Panthers</a> - Delhomme sustained a chest injury against Arizona on Sunday but said on Monday that he feels fine. There's no reason to think that he won't be ready for Week 9.<br /><br />o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/matt-hasselbeck/4416" class="injectedLink">Matt Hasselbeck</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/seattle-seahawks" class="injectedLink">Seahawks</a> - Hasselbeck spent time on Sunday being looked at by trainers on the sidelines but never missed one play. He said on Monday that he felt fine and should miss no time.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Brett+Favre/" class="injectedLink">Brett Favre</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/minnesota-vikings" class="injectedLink">Vikings</a> - Favre may have played with a pulled groin, he may have been sick -- nobody truly knows. He definitely took some hits on Sunday. Watch practice for issues with any groin injury. He may be limited this week, but until Favre sits on the sideline for a series, I'm not buying that he's too hurt to play.<br /> <br /> <strong><font color="#5c5858" size="+1">Running Back<br /> <br /> </font></strong>o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-smith/8841" class="injectedLink">Kevin Smith</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/detroit-lions" class="injectedLink">Lions</a> - Smith injured his shoulder on Sunday and left the game, not to return. Head coach Jim Schwartz said that he could have played if the team really needed him though. If he's unable to go next week or even if he's just banged up and limited, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/maurice-morris/5940" class="injectedLink">Maurice Morris</a> will see his role expanded. <br /> <br /> <strong><font color="#5c5858" size="+1">Wide Receiver<br /> <br /> </font></strong>o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/anquan-boldin/6390" class="injectedLink">Anquan Boldin</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/arizona-cardinals" class="injectedLink">Cardinals</a> - Boldin tweaked his right ankle on Sunday but said on Monday that he doesn't feel any worse than before he aggravated the injury. He also said that as long as he could run, he would play. He doesn't want to take any time off.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/donald-driver/4863" class="injectedLink">Donald Driver</a>, Packers - Driver suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday, but was able to return to the game. His injury was just a stinger and he should be fine for practice this week.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/danny-amendola/9037" class="injectedLink">Danny Amendola</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/st-louis-rams" class="injectedLink">Rams</a> - Amendola left Sunday's game with a concussion. He will be tested on Tuesday to see how long the head injury will keep him sidelined.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/domenik-hixon/7879" class="injectedLink">Domenik Hixon</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-giants" class="injectedLink">Giants</a> - Hixon suffered a hip flexor on Sunday. The wide receiver is sore right now but how much he'll be able to practice this week won't be determined until Wednesday when he tests his ability to move.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/lance-moore/7544" class="injectedLink">Lance Moore</a>, <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-orleans-saints" class="injectedLink">Saints</a> - Moore left Monday night's game with a shin bruise and did not return. He will undergo surgery to repair the damage. It's <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/11/01/owen-daniels-out-for-the-season-with-right-knee-injury/">time to find a replacement</a> for what may have been the best fantasy tight end in football.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-boss/8407" class="injectedLink">Kevin Boss</a>, Giants - An <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/philadelphia-eagles" class="injectedLink">Eagles</a> defensive back fell on the back of Boss' leg, injuring his ankle in the third quarter. Boss was able to return in the fourth quarter to contribute. He should be fine, but don't cement his name onto your roster until he practices fully.<br /> <br /> o. <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/randy-mcmichael/6000" class="injectedLink">Randy McMichael</a>, Rams - McMichael left Sunday's game with a rib injury but x-rays came back negative. His chest is sore, but he should be able to play in the Rams next game, which won't be until Week 10 as St. Louis has entered their bye week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/11/03/damage-control-owen-daniels-suffers-season-ending-injury/">Damage Control: Owen Daniels Suffers Season-Ending Injury</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com">Fantasy Football Fanhouse</a> on Tue, 03 Nov 2009 10:14:00 EST . Things aren't going as planned for you or the Houston running back.<br /> <br /> After losing his fifth fumble of the season, Slaton was benched on Sunday in favor of <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ryan-moats/7253">Ryan Moats</a>, who ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Now, says Dale Robertson of the <a href="http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6698117.html" target="_blank"><em>Houston Chronicle</em></a>, Slaton will have to battle for his starting job.<br /><blockquote>
<div>Benched in favor of Ryan Moats, Slaton must be wondering if he'll get his starting job back. The previously little-used Moats wasn't in a sharing mood against the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/buffalo-bills">Bills</a>. He rushed for 126 yards and three fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Texans overwhelmed the Bills 31-10.<br /> <br /> "Ryan took advantage of the situation," coach Gary Kubiak said, although he demurred when asked if Moats is the new starter. "We'll go to next week. We'll see."</div>
</blockquote>Adam Caplan, who is a writer for <a href="http://twitter.com/caplannfl/statuses/5373721736" target="_blank"><em>Scout with FoxSports.com</em></a>, says that all three running backs for Houston will get playing time. With that declaration we have yet another running back-by-committee situation brewing in the NFL. This news is not good for any fantasy football GM who owns Slaton.<blockquote>
<div>No decision on who will start at running back yet for the #Texans. Head coach Gary Kubiak said all three backs will play.</div>
</blockquote><strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br /> o. With <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/owen-daniels/7847">Owen Daniels</a> being gone for the season, John McClain of the <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.chron.com/nfl/2009/11/walter_could_benefit_the_most.html"><em>Houston Chronicle</em></a> thinks <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-walter/6591">Kevin Walter</a> will benefit the most, statistically speaking. McClain predicts a Walter breakout soon: "Watch him emerge big time starting with the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/indianapolis-colts">Colts</a> game."<br /> <br /> o. You wouldn't expect this kind of news after your team puts up 30 points, but the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/chicago-bears">Chicago Bears</a> have decided to pare back the offensive playbook for <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jay-cutler/7760">Jay Cutler</a>. Brad Biggs of the <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/11/10_thoughts_and_then_some_comi.html"><em>Chicago Sun-Times</em></a> thinks the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/chicago-bears">Bears</a> offense hasn't done a good job of anything this season except getting the ball to <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/devin-hester/7806">Devin Hester</a>. Will a reduction in the playbook help bring up Cutler's fantasy value?<br /> <br /> o. Paul Schwartz of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/eli_refuses_to_call_foot_fault_zzY5JIlZSqQJqCSxoc0hFK"><em>New York Post</em></a> says that <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/eli-manning/6760">Eli Manning</a> refuses to blame his poor throwing lately on his injured foot. "That's not an excuse I can fall on," he said. "It's (foot) not bothering me at all." What is bothering fantasy football owners are the six interceptions that Manning has thrown over the past three games -- all losses for the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-giants">Giants</a>. Manning is no longer a must-start option at quarterback for your fantasy team.<br /> <br /><a href="http://www.twitter.com/FantasyFanHouse" target="_blank"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/media/2009/11/fantasy-fanhouse-twitter.jpg" id="vimage_2" alt="" /></a>o. If you have either of the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/cleveland-browns">Cleveland Browns</a> quarterbacks on your fantasy football roster, for any reason other than a joke, then you're crazy. Head coach Eric Mangini is, yet again, undecided as to whether <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/brady-quinn/8276">Brady Quinn</a> or <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/derek-anderson/7389">Derek Anderson</a> should be the starting quarterback says Tony Grossi of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/11/anger_boiling_over_as_clevelan.html"><em>Cleveland Plain Dealer</em></a>.<br /> <br /> o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/steven-jackson/6783">Steven Jackson</a> finally got into the end zone in Week 8 and has averaged 141.5 yards per game over the last two weeks. Steve Korte of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bnd.com/567?plckController=Blog&amp;plckScript=blogScript&amp;plckElementId=blogDest&amp;plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&amp;plckPostId=Blog%3a1f12c773-ab93-4877-a572-dea497f5fd56Post%3a540168cc-bcbf-43b7-a153-e3bc5bdfecd1&amp;sid=pluck.bnd.com"><em>Belleville News-Democrat</em></a> says that a lot of Jackson's present and future success stems from the improved play of his offensive line.<br /> <br /> o. As if <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/minnesota-vikings">Vikings</a> rookie wide receiver <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/percy-harvin/9286">Percy Harvin</a> wasn't scoring enough points. You folks in fantasy football leagues that count return yards will be happy to hear that Sean Jensen of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_13696240?source=rss"><em>The Pioneer Press</em></a> says Harvin may start returning punts as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/11/02/fantasy-football-cut-n-go-steve-slaton-may-lose-starting-job/">Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Steve Slaton May Lose Starting Job</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com">Fantasy Football Fanhouse</a> on Mon, 02 Nov 2009 23:31:00 EST . After moving into the starting lineup shortly after returning from his early-season injury, he now looks poised to move ahead of <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/mario-manningham/8872">Mario Manningham</a> for the No. 2 spot.<br /> <br /> While Manningham currently holds down the gig, <em>Newsday </em>reports that <a href="http://www.newsday.com/blogs/sports/t-rock-s-take-on-the-giants-1.811990/mario-manningham-leaves-practice-1.1557934" target="_blank">he left practice right after stretching in warmups</a>. The story lacks clarity as to whether Manningham left due to his lingering chest injury or because of a lineup change, but Nicks assumed the starting role in Friday's walk-throughs. Regardless of the reason, this bodes very well for Nicks owners who already have a gem on their hands.<br /><br />Not only has Nicks outplayed Manningham in recent weeks, but he also appears to be gaining favor from quarterback <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/eli-manning/6760">Eli Manning</a> over Steve Smith. Hence, look for Nicks to see an even greater number of targets this week against the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/philadelphia-eagles">Eagles</a>. It will be interesting to see how the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/new-york-giants">Giants</a> come out after two straight losses following the 5-0 start, but I'd guess they'll be gunning with Nicks being the primary beneficiary.<br /> <br /> <strong>Other Fantasy Notes</strong><br /> <br /> o. The <em>Associated Press</em> reports that <a href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/10287774/Jets%27-Cotchery-questionable,-but-expects-to-play" target="_blank">Jerricho Cotchery looks ready to play this week against Miami</a> after missing three weeks due to a hamstring injury. While Cotchery got off to a tremendous start with rookie quarterback <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/mark-sanchez/9269">Mark Sanchez</a>, the addition and reemergence of <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/braylon-edwards/7179">Braylon Edwards</a> make him a risky play this week. Still, the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/miami-dolphins">Dolphins</a> secondary presents a promising matchup, so consider Cotchery a worthy start for a No. 3 wide receiver.<br /> <br /> o. While the consensus report looked doubtful regarding <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/darren-mcfadden/8781">Darren McFadden</a>'s return this weekend given the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/oakland-raiders">Raiders</a> have their bye week coming in Week 9, <a href="http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2009/10/30/a-mcfadden-sighting/" target="_blank">the <em>Contra Costa Times</em> spotted McFadden participating in practice </a>on Friday sporting an elastic brace on his scoped knee. We'll have to see what coach Tom Cable says after practice, but if you are super desperate, McFadden's chances look better than expected to play this week. Given the Raiders' record, they are not exactly in a position to be resting guys for later in the season.<br /> <br /><a target="_blank" href="http://www.twitter.com/fantasyfanhouse"><img hspace="4" border="1" align="right" vspace="4" alt="" id="vimage_2" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/media/2009/10/fantasy-fanhouse-twitter.jpg" /></a>o. The fellas at <em>Bleacher Report</em> think it might be <a href="http://bleacherreport.com/articles/281343-vince-young-a-waiver-wire-pickup-nfl-fantasy-football-rankings" target="_blank">time to pick up Vince Young off the waiver wire</a>. Personally, I never liked <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/vince-young/7752">Vince Young</a> for fantasy purposes even in his prime, but it's hard not to take interest in this story. For one thing, the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/tennessee-titans">Titans</a> have decent weapons, so it's hard to imagine Young wouldn't provide an upgrade, but more so it'll be good to see Young back in action after his very public fall from grace. Who doesn't like a good comeback saga?<br /> <br /> o. Our fantasy buddies over at <em>Sports Illustrated</em>'s <a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/fantasy/10/30/friday.clicks/" target="_blank">Fantasy Clicks take a self-deprecating look at their top preseason draft picks</a> -- and help bail you out if you listened to them. Man what I wouldn't do to take advantage of that Westbrook trade. (I swear, my Internet froze).<br /> <br /> o. The <em>Washington Post</em> <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/28/AR2009102804573.html" target="_blank">previews FX's fantasy football sitcom <span style="font-style: italic;">The League</span></a> with horrible results. This apparently will not end well as the <em>NJ Star-Ledger</em> also claims <a href="http://www.nj.com/entertainment/tv/index.ssf/2009/10/the_league_review_-_sepinwall.html" target="_blank">the show "will leave no one happy."</a> I'm getting excited just to see how bad it becomes before getting the axe.<br /> <br /> o. The boys at the <em>New York Times</em>' Fifth Down blog are <a href="http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/28/week-8-in-fantasy-football-matchups/" target="_blank">not excited about the Alex Smith start this week against the Colts</a>. I couldn't agree more. Have you ever seen Alex Smith play?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/2009/10/30/fantasy-football-cut-n-go-prince-hakeem-closing-in-on-fantasy-r/">Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Prince Hakeem Closing in on Fantasy Royalty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com">Fantasy Football Fanhouse</a> on Fri, 30 Oct 2009 20:00:00 EST . The Lions have only won once in the past two seasons and the Rams are 2-21 in that span. Remember, though, in <a href="http://fantasyfootball.fanhouse.com/" class="injectedLink">fantasy football</a> <em>every</em> game is exciting to some extent. In FanHouse's latest fantasy football podcast, Tom Herrera and Matt Snyder explain why they like both running backs -- <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kevin-smith/8841" class="injectedLink">Kevin Smith</a> and <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/steven-jackson/6783" class="injectedLink">Steven Jackson</a> -- to have a good game Sunday. And whether you think the penalty was too stiff or not harsh enough for the crime, just know that <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/10/28/larry-johnson-suspended-for-conduct-detrimental-to-club-until-no/" target="_blank">Larry Johnson is being punished</a>. In a release from the <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/kansas-city-chiefs" class="injectedLink">Kansas City Chiefs</a>, we find out that Johnson will receive a two-game suspension.<br /><blockquote>The Kansas City Chiefs have suspended RB <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/larry-johnson/6363" class="injectedLink">Larry Johnson</a> for Conduct Detrimental to the Club effective immediately. Johnson will not be permitted to participate in any team activities or be on team premises until Monday, November 9th. The <a href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/kansas-city-chiefs" class="injectedLink">Chiefs</a> will have no further comment on Johnson's status at this time.<br /></blockquote>This punishment wasn't as harsh as I predicted, but since I have no say in the matter let's focus on what the Chiefs are doing to make sure their rushing attack doesn't suffer.<br /><br />Kent Babb of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kansascity.com/sports/chiefs/story/1536269.html"><em>The Kansas City Star</em></a> says that <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jamaal-charles/8850">Jamaal Charles</a>, as expected, is taking about half the reps at practice with the first team. But <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/kolby-smith/8402">Kolby Smith</a>, who is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list, has been taking the other repetitions.<br /><blockquote>Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith split most of the practice time Wednesday as the Chiefs' running backs, both of them trying to prove they're ready for a more significant role.<br /><br />Charles caught passes during practice, and Smith tested his surgically repaired knee at the team's indoor facility. Both appeared capable of handling a greater load.<br /></blockquote>It looks like Smith will be activated from the PUP list to play in Week 9, when the Chiefs come off of their bye week. If you are in an insanely large, very competitive fantasy football league, you can look to sign him. If not, don't waste your time and effort on Smith.<br /><br />Charles is the back to go with if you're looking for help on the waiver wire. He'll definitely earn some points in Week 9, and if the two-week separation of Johnson from the Chiefs is extended, you'll already have Charles in place and won't miss a beat.<br /><br /><strong>Other Fantasy Football Notes</strong><br /><br />o. Roy Cummings of the <a target="_blank" href="http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/oct/29/sp-freeman-a-classic-passer/sports-bucs/"><em>Tampa Tribune</em></a> says that the coaching staff is sometimes in awe of what <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/josh-freeman/9281">Josh Freeman</a> can do while throwing the football. Freeman is a classic pocket-passer and the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/tampa-bay-buccaneers">Buccaneers</a> coaches think that the move to the rookie at quarterback will pay off in the future. Did I mention that Tampa Bay announced that <a target="_blank" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/10/28/josh-freeman-to-take-over-as-bucs-qb/">Freeman was their new starting quarterback</a>?<br /><br />o. I'm unsure whether this is a vote of confidence for <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/jake-delhomme/4555">Jake Delhomme</a> or the sad truth that the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/carolina-panthers">Carolina Panthers</a> don't have a better option, but David Scott of the <a target="_blank" href="http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2009/10/delhomme-will-start-vs-cardinals.html"><em>Charlotte Observer</em></a> says that Delhomme will remain the starting quarterback even though he's thrown more than three times the interceptions this year as he has touchdown passes.<br /><br />o. According to Armando Salguero of the <a target="_blank" href="http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2009/10/sparano-starting-wrs-to-be-determined-by-practice.html"><em>Miami Herald</em></a>, <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/miami-dolphins">Dolphins</a> coach Tony Sparano won't let us know about <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ted-ginn%20jr./8263">Ted Ginn Jr</a>.'s job security -- although he's leading to choosing his starting wide receivers on the basis of how well they practice this week. This is bad news for Ginn, who has only caught five passes in the last three games.<br /><br />o. <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ahman-green/4261">Ahman Green</a> has already passed <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/brandon-jackson/8317">Brandon Jackson</a> on the Green Bay depth chart says Greg A. Bedard of the <a target="_blank" style="font-style: italic;" href="http://twitter.com/Greg_A_Bedard/status/5234363441">Milwaukee Journal Sentinel</a>. Green will be the <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/team/green-bay-packers">Packers</a>' third-down back and the No. 2 option behind <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/ryan-grant/7635">Ryan Grant</a>.<br /><br />o. Danny O'Neil of <a target="_blank" href="http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawksblog/2010145337_hawktalkwithdannyoneillivechatatnoon.html"><em>The Seattle Times</em></a> thinks that <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/john-carlson/8815">John Carlson</a> has been blocking way too much to be an effective fantasy tight end. The offensive line in Seattle is down to third-string options at tackle which is forcing Carlson to stay back to help protect <a class="injectedLink" href="http://nfl.fanhouse.com/players/matt-hasselbeck/4416">Matt Hasselbeck</a>.<style type="text/css"> .fanhouseButton {margin:2em 0;} .fanhouseButton a:link, .fanhouseButton a:visited, .fanhouseButton a:hover, .fanhouseButton a:active {background-color:#dd2829;color:#FFFFFF;font-size:18px;padding:0.3em 0.6em;text-decoration:none;} .fanhouseButton a:hover {background-color:#000000;}</style>
