Vincent Jackson: Fantasy 'What The ...'

Vincent Jackson Jackson, VincentDuring the course of every fantasy football season, we're constantly reminded just how erratic fantasy football can be -- especially when it comes to wide receivers. Thus, when someone like Vincent Jackson is in your lineup, you likely feel pretty good about his chances to keep playing well, especially if you knew Philip Rivers would throw for 231 yards and two touchdowns.

Yet, when you went and checked your fantasy score, you saw a whopping one point next to Jackson's name. Obviously, this brought about a "What the ... ?" You can fill in the blank as clean or vulgar as you want. The point here is that these five wideouts put up seemingly inexplicable stat lines Sunday.

Vincent Jackson - Jackson came into the game with 722 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in eight games. That's must-start WR1 territory, folks. He had scored five touchdowns in his previous four games, making him among the hottest receivers in the league. Instead 19 of Rivers' 20 completions went to others. A dude named Legedu Naanee had 42 yards (compared to Jackson's 10) and a touchdown. In other news, Jackson owners are ready to break stuff.

Miles Austin - After scoring six touchdowns in his past four games, a stretch that included over 500 yards through the air, Austin didn't even accrue a single catch until halfway through the fourth quarter. On the heels of his one-catch outing last week, fantasy owners are left scratching their heads -- especially in light of Roy Williams' solid game.

Nate Burleson - The Seahawks completed 26 passes for 315 yards. Burleson entered the game with 45 catches for 562 yards and three touchdowns in eight games. So, obviously, he came away from Arizona without a single catch. Cue up the yelling and screaming.

Marques Colston - The lanky wideout entered the game with 596 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Against the Rams, who are horrible against the pass and have no serviceable cornerbacks, Colston came away with a paltry 17 receiving yards. For good measure, he fumbled away a potential touchdown -- leaving his fantasy owners ready to pound their heads against the wall.

Chad Ochocinco - With 639 yards and five touchdowns on the season, Ocho entered the game as one of the most reliable fantasy football receivers. He left it with just 29 yards and no scores. His fantasy owners likely want to bribe him with a dollar for more points.
