Need a last-minute fill-in for this week? 4th and 26 is here to throw you a couple deep sleepers, guys available in at least 90 percent of Fleaflicker leagues that could give your fantasy football team a big boost.We covered a full complement of fantasy sleepers in Wednesday's column, and I suggest perusing that article to try and find a replacement before delving into these deep sleepers, who are nothing more than wild cards.
Of course, some of you are sitting around with a dried-out free agent pool and not many options. If this describes your situation, read on, because I'm here to help you out.
Kolby Smith, RB, Chiefs. I mentioned Smith as a sly add last week, and as predicted, Smith was activated for this week's contest against the Jaguars. The Chiefs have shown a reluctance to give Jamaal Charles a full complement of carries, so there's definitely opportunity here for Smith. It's unlikely Kansas City will be handing the ball off 25-30 times this game, but if they do, I expect Smith to receive double-digit carries and possibly score a TD.
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jaguars. Speaking of No. 2 backs, Jennings hasn't had much to do this season, with his lone notable performance being a nine-carry, 53-yard day against Tennessee in Week 4. Should the Jaguars pull away from the Chiefs early, Jennings could see a similar workload and provide you with a cheap five points.
Kelley Washington, WR, Ravens. The Bengals generally have problems containing secondary receivers in an offense, so Washington could potentially catch a few long balls and reach the end zone in this contest. Even if he doesn't put up that huge of a game, we've generally been able to count on him for 3-5 catches this year. Those few points might be the difference-maker for you this week.Michael Jenkins, WR, Falcons. Like Washington, Jenkins is usually good for a few catches and a mediocre performance on Sundays. Last Monday, he caught four passes and gained 66 yards against the Saints, his best game since Week 3. The matchup isn't great, but Jenkins sees plenty of playing time, so the potential is always there for a double-digit fantasy performance (if he could just get in the end zone).
Josh Freeman, QB, Buccaneers. Heaven help you if you have to rely on a rookie QB for a winless team in his first start, but if you're in a two-QB league and have no other options, make sure you type Freeman's name into your search box in your Fleaflicker league. He'll at least be better than the zero you'd otherwise take at the position this week. Probably.
