Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact.Well, Adrian Peterson was seen as "limited" in yet another mid-week practice. However, isn't this becoming familiar ground? The guy ranks amongst the tops in the league for total carries and touches on the season. He takes a pounding and always gets back up for more. It's as if we just want to circle him as an injury liability, when despite missing a few games as a rookie – he's maintained a pretty consistent healthy track record in the NFL.
Of course the guy is sore and of course he's not going to be going full steam with this current ankle injury. As usual, the Vikings disclosed very little on the Peterson ankle injury. You have to monitor the situation, but it doesn't sound as if it's a high ankle sprain, which would certainly put AP on the pine. He is looking at a very tough and physical matchup with the Steelers this weekend. Considering it's AP, though, don't bench him. You never bench him.
Other Fantasy Football Notes
•Cedric Benson has been ripping apart opposing defenses in his revenge tour this season. And now, he's taking aim at ripping apart the Chicago Bears. Benson claims the Bears tried to get him blacklisted from the NFL by bad mouthing him. In case you hadn't realized, Benson is a man on a mission this season. He's clearly elevated himself into one of the more reliable fantasy running back options around. Perhaps this was all the motivation he needed.
•It may not exactly spell doom for Ryan Grant, but the Packers are taking a deep breath and saying Ah...mon! That's right, going back to the glory days: Ahman Green has been signed by the Packers to most likely take over the third-string duties and, perhaps, a little short yardage action? We'll see how this plays out -- he shouldn't strike fear in Grant owners (despite Grant's struggles), but he could push Brandon Jackson down the depth chart.
•On cue, here comes your annual Anquan Boldin injury. Reports are that it's a high ankle sprain, so prepare for the worst (that he probably won't play this weekend). This no doubt elevates the value of both Steve Breaston and Larry Fitzgerald. We say it every year, but if you draft Boldin you had best realize you're only getting 12-14 games per season. He plays too violently to stay healthy.
•If you're like me, you were hoping to get Anthony Gonzalez back into your fantasy rotation sooner than later. When he first went down, if you were so inclined to hold onto him on your bench, you hoped this was the weekend he was due back. It just seemed right after a bye week and the Rams on tap. Well, now you've got a predicament, as no timetable is presently set for his return. And he ain't playing this weekend. Remember in August how you felt like he was a breakout in the making? Yup, I feel you bud.
•Michael Crabtree is going to get his first NFL start this weekend. However, is it really OK to insert him into your fantasy line-up? I say that's an act of desperation, but certainly the buzz around Crabtree is making the rounds. All he ever wanted to do was score touchdowns! Do you trust he can pull this off in his first ever game? If so, go for it ... I guess.
