'House Check: First-Rounders Traded

Every Tuesday night, we'll give you an update on our FanHouse fantasy football league. Who hit on their sleepers? Who made the shrewd pickups? Who's practicing what they preach? In 'House Check, you'll find out.

With a somewhat subdued NFL trade deadline coming up, the FanHouse league saw a huge trade itself. Matt Snyder traded Andre Johnson away to Doug Bernstein's team, and Snyder picked up Steven Jackson. This was a great trade for both sides, as Ray Rice moves into the RB2 role for Doug, while Snyder's best RB was Joseph Addai. After one week, the clear winner is ... nobody. Johnson put up 135 yards and no TDs, while Jackson notched 128 yards with no TDs.

After six weeks, all teams in Division 1 are 3-3, while three of the four Division 3 teams are 4-2. In the middle is my division, where Ryan Dembinsky and myself are also 4-2, with a three-game lead over the rest of the division. Week 7 pits the league's top two scoring teams, owned by Ryan and Will Brinson, in the game of the week. While Ryan doesn't have any players of note on bye, Will will be playing without Maurice Jones-Drew and Brandon Marshall.

Waiver Wire Work

With Laurence Maroney sitting on the wire, I fully expect him to end up on a 1-5 roster by Wednesday. He's clearly the back to claim in all leagues, as he could be the primary ball-carrier for the Patriots from here on out. After sorting free agents by last week's performance, two more Pats backs come in second and third behind Maroney, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone burned a waiver claim on Kevin Faulk as well. I gave you deep-leaguers BenJarvus Green-Ellis a few weeks ago, and I still think he's a solid addition in deep leagues. Chris Brown and Jerome Harrison are other backs that I think will be claimed.

If Jason Campbell or Trent Edwards were still owned in our league, I'd expect them cut by this week, especially with Chad Henne sitting out there and coming off a bye. Same goes for Kerry Collins and Mark Sanchez, both of whom were deep into negative scoring this week. Besides a possible Henne add, none of these QBs should get any love.

At WR, there really isn't much out there. I can see someone with bench room picking up Mark Clayton to use after his bye. Dustin Keller was cut last week and represents the only guy worth owning in our league at the TE position. And finally, I see the Colts and Browns defenses getting snatched up as teams cover byes.
