You might be surprised by the name at the top of the rankings this week. After all, he's gained just 227 yards this season and scored only one touchdown. But playing against the rag-tag Tennessee secondary, Wes Welker should have a field day. I wouldn't be surprised to see him with double-digit catches and a couple TDs, especially if Randy Moss continues to struggle. After all, Welker already has 41 targets in just three games played.1. • The return of Chad Clifton and the signing of Mark Tauscher strengthens the offensive line and greatly improves the prospects of the Green Bay passing game. With more time to hang on to the ball, Aaron Rodgers should return to hitting Greg Jennings deep. This could be the last week to buy low on Jennings in your league.
• Nate Burleson continues to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the fantasy season. He's tied with Randy Moss for the second-most targets in the league (behind Andre Johnson). T.J. Houshmandzadeh ranks seventh in the NFL, proving there's plenty of balls to go around in Seattle.
• This week the "Who gets to face the crummy Jacksonville secondary" dial stops on the Rams. A non-existent Jaguar pass rush should give Marc Bulger plenty of time to find deep threat Donnie Avery again and again on Sunday. Start Avery, the only pass-catching threat for the Rams, with confidence.
• Did you have the guts to roll the dice with Braylon Edwards in his first New York start? Those people who did were rewarded (I wouldn't have risked it myself) and now he gets to face Buffalo at home. If the Jets would have held off on trading for Edwards for a week, he could have started back-to-back games against the Bills! One will have to do.
• I'm done with the Bills. I'm glad they're trashing the ill-conceived no-huddle offense, but what did they see in the offseason that made them think it was a good idea in the first place? At any rate, I want nothing to do with Terrell Owens or Lee Evans against the great Jets pass defense. Unlike Miami, Buffalo doesn't have a gimmick offense to open up the field for their QB.
