It's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim? Did you not think this was coming? Really, you thought this was going to end well? I'm not talking simply about Terrell Owens, rather the entire Bills offense. There was Marshawn Lynch coming off a suspension, a dismantled offensive line, a sketchy QB, and one fired offensive coordinator to add to the misery. Yup, that's a pretty good omen that bad things were on the horizon for the Bills offense.
Yet, how could we not draft them on the bargain? Lynch was slipping into the 4th round or later and, after all, he was/is a second-round talent. Sure, we knew T.O. would have his ups and downs and was possibly on the decline, but how could you pass on T.O. as the draft dragged along? Well, this may not be the funeral for the Bills offense ... yet. It's getting pretty close, so let us, from the fantasy hot seat, give a warm welcome to this entire offense. Everyone is fair game.
Trent Edwards, QB. You probably didn't draft him to be your starter, however, you still figured he could be a nice bye-week filler or possibly a surprise sleeper. After all, he had Lee Evans and Terrell Owens on the outside and a pretty, pretty, pretty good set of running backs. However, the no-huddle offense hasn't brought out the best in Edwards. It's been a gradual spiral downward for Edwards since Week 1. Forget about it: sink him already.
Fred Jackson, RB. There is always going to be an ounce of upside with Jackson. It'd be hard to not be captivated by his early-season showcase, but there's a certain dude nicknamed "Beast Mode" who is still in the picture. Logically, the Bills aren't going to move Lynch before the deadline and chances are he'll wrestle away the majority of this timeshare. So, I ask you what the value really is for a guy who might get about 35-40% of the touches on a horrible offense? Feel free to sink him only if you absolutely need the roster space. For the life of me, I still can't condone cutting a running back with upside.
Marshawn Lynch, RB. Let's save this one for later date. It is worth mentioning his name because he's guilty of stink by association. That said, there's no way you're bidding farewell to a guy like Lynch with such a little sample of action. Lynch is still on the hot seat, but he'll need to start dishing out the pain and racking up those numbers. Yards and catches are nice, but what we all crave most in fantasy football are touchdowns. Terrell Owens, WR. Goodbye, my friend. This clearly is the end of the rope for T.O. Can you really just cut him outright? I don't know about that, but do you honestly think somebody in your league is gonna give you anything of value for him in a trade? Not only is his quarterback failing to connect with him, but Edwards rarely even looks for T.O. in the passing game. This offense certainly isn't catered towards him. At some point you have to wonder when the internal explosion happens. I'm sorry, but I don't think the Bears are gonna deal for T.O. I'm not a believer. I'm saying sink the guy. Period.
Lee Evans, WR Bills. Similar to Owens, Evans has been a major dud in this offense. He's always been inconsistent in fantasy football. This time around, we were all scammed into believing, that with another threat on the other side of the field, big things would be in the works for Evans. Um, yeah ... that's just not happening. I've always tried to avoid Evans myself (based on his boom-or-bust history), so I'm admittedly biased, but it's time to set Evans free. Send him back to the waiver wire: Evans is what he is (a headache).
The bottom line is that it's a long road ahead for the disaster that is the Bills offense.

The Bills problems are not T. O. or Lynch (over 1000 yds. rushing the past two years, but the organization as a whole. They have a mediocre coach who displays no emotion (need a young, enthusiastic coach like Josh Mcdaniels in Denver or an established winning coach), a QB (Edwards)who will never be a top notch starting QB (please get Tebow next year!), an "experienced" Offensive Coordinator, and get the ball to T. O. and Evans a lot! Ralph Wilson just won't spend any money for top-notch coaches and coordinators, and if there is no salary cap next year, you can bet the Bills will stink up the place for a long time because Wilson won't spend the money! There are a lot of "great" coaches out there available. Cowher is out of the price range, but there is Shanahan, Holmgren, Billick and Schottenheimer. That means there are four Super Bowl winning coaches and Schotty has only had one losing season in hi career. The winning formula is to get one of these coaches in Buffalo, an established Offensive Coordinator, and get Tebow in as QB. He's a winner, he's smart, he can run and throw as well, and he'll get the ball to
T. O. and Evans, and with the runners they have (Lynch and Jackson), and Tebow's ability to run, you have the makings of a prolific offense. Now it's up to Wilson!

The biggest issue I had going into the year with this team was the changing of the damn OC a week before the regular season. How the hell do you screw something like that up so horribly? These guys go into the season having to learn new plays, lingo, and sets. It had disaster written all over it.
As much as I people seem to like Jauron, he is NOT the right coach for this kind of offensive talent. He is waaayyy too conservative and they need to open it the hell up. You said it yourself. You have 2 above average RBs, and 2 potentially top 20 WRs. They don't spread it out, they don't go downfield, they don't do anything with these guys because Jauron is afraid to. He is a "play not to lose" kind of coach and always has been. With the teams these guys play all year you can't afford to play like that.
So...the players may not be useful in fantasy right now, and TO is certainly slipping, but I wouldn't say that he, or Evans are done yet. They are for this year if nothing changes, but they aren't lost. At worst we should have been able to expect 1000 yard seasons out of both and at least one to have well into double digit TDs. Instead we have this trash.
They don't even have a chance to produce, and it looks like a lost year for them all due to piss poor coaching, and ownership decisions.
