Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Coping With The Bye Weeks

Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact.

The bye weeks are finally upon us, but relax it's no time to panic. You see, had you planned your draft accordingly you would have realized that when you drafted Matt Forte, Drew Brees and Greg Jennings they all had a bye in Week 5. OK, show of hands if you're really that on top of things. Listen, I try to cover those bases, but once the beers flow and the clock starts -- I lose focus.

Regardless, we will get through this together. It's October (the best month of the year) with a glorious weekend of sports and fantasy football on tap. There's never a reason to let a few voids in your roster make you worrisome. Come on, you don't want to walk around like Tony Romo on most Sunday afternoons (kinda-sorta kidding). Just check out our weekly player rankings and tune into the Sunday tailgate. We promise to help you get through this.

Now let's poke around and see what's newsworthy this side of fantasy football.

• Perhaps, nobody is more under the gun this week than Tony Romo. He's struggled mightily in recent weeks and produced ZILCH for his fantasy owners. More importantly he's produced zilch for the Cowboys. He travels to Kansas City this weekend for a favorable matchup that he and his offense should shred. He might be without Roy Williams, but that doesn't change the expectations for a big game.

Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook are back and ready to cut loose against the Bucs defense. Plenty of fantasy owners are licking their chops over the possibility.

The game of the week once again goes to the Patriots, who will be taking their struggling offense on the road to feel-good-story Denver. Don't you just expect that offense to click eventually? A lot of naysayers say it won't happen against the stingy Broncos defense. Hmm.

• Runner-up for game of the week belongs to the Falcons and 49ers. Will that 49ers defense put up another historic fantasy scoring day? I wouldn't wager the house on that one, but still plenty of fantasy options brewing in this one. Once again, we'll see if Glen Coffee can live up to the hype.

The Lions remain mum on Matthew Stafford's injury, but you weren't starting him against the Steelers anyway. Don't worry much about Calvin Johnson, he should be just fine -- even if Daunte Culpepper is throwing him the ball.

A few links or shots from around the Internets to take us into the weekend:

Facebook and Fantasy Football are together at last. Ah yes, social networking and fantasy football ... why didn't I think of that?

• Not everyone has to be an expert to at least enjoy fantasy football, right?

• Nobody is really all that excited about Michael Crabtree signing. And I'm speaking from a fantasy perspective of course.

• The moral of the story is to never give up in fantasy football -- even if you're 0-4, there's still a chance.

A look at the ten most intriguing fantasy players heading into Week 5. Much to my chagrin I own only one of these guys, Tony Romo. Deep sigh.

And with that, a good weekend to everyone.
