Stash or Trash tells you whether a prospective fantasy football pickup (or drop) is worthy of your roster spot.Name value is a key component in fantasy sports. Take, for instance, Braylon Edwards. You know he sucks. I know he sucks. Heck, LeBron James knows he sucks. (Bob Costas and Buzz Bissinger might be the only people on the planet that like him, actually.) But yet ... everyone keeps drafting him! I'm guilty of pulling trigger on him late, as well, because he's so talented and it seemed like "value."
So, the question that we have to ask today is, "When can you cut a big name?" Actually, we're going to answer the question. I guess that would help out a lot more, huh?
LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers -- That's right. We're not pulling any punches here. Unfortunately, he plays on a high-powered offense, he was your first-round draft pick and he's a record-holder for most touchdowns in a season. You can't cut him. Don't do it. Someone will take him in a trade for something. Maybe.
Braylon Edwards, WR, Browns -- You cannot even think twice about cutting this loser in anything that's 10 teams or smaller. Seriously, why haven't you already? He's a waste of space, he has awful quarterbacks and right now, he's the third best wideout on his own team. If you're in a 12-teamer, just give him a permanent spot on your bench and hope he has one good game that will let you move him.
Reggie Bush, RB, Saints -- Are you in a point-per-reception league? Oh, you're not? Then why did you bother drafting Mr. Kimmy K? Exactly. Dealbreaker, ladies. Cut him.
Eddie Royal, WR, Broncos -- Again, your own fault. Why? Because the name "Kyle Orton" has to mean something (even if it's just "neckbeard" roughly translated in German or something). I see no reason why you can't cut Royal at this point; he was fantastic with Jay Cutler under center last year but the times they have a' changed, my friend.
LenDale White, RB, Titans -- WTF, Jeff Fisher. Twenty-three carries all freaking season? That makes little to no sense, my mustachioed friend, especially considering LenDale gave up the hooch to help the Titans become a better team this year. Don't cut him though -- it's not his performance so much as it is his attempts that make him look like such a bust.
Darren McFadden, RB, Raiders -- "Team cancers" don't usually apply in fantasy sports, but with the 2009 Oakland Raiders, I think we can make an exception. I mean, gracious, they're bad. Just go ahead and get rid of McFadden; he's going to cost you four weeks of no production on your bench and if you keep running him out there when you get back you're only going to get more angry.
