Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Right Now, You Either Hate or Love Dallas Clark

Dallas ClarkCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact.

The following is an actual quote pulled from my league message board on Monday night: "[Expletive] Dallas Clark. [Expletive] the Miami Dolphins."

Needless to say, that particular fantasy owner wasn't too happy that Clark singlehandedly obliterated the lead he had going into Monday Night Football. Seven catches, 183 yards, one long touchdown, and possibly an entire pack of Rolaids. All courtesy of the big man.

Reggie Wayne owners are in a foul mood as well. Many teams depend on Wayne for WR1-type numbers, but three catches for 37 yards just doesn't cut it. So what happened? Anthony Gonzalez's injury happened. Tighter coverage happened. And as Rotoworld pointed out, Wayne's targets dropped from 14 in Week 1 to only six against the Dolphins.

Wayne will bounce back, of course, but it's going to be tough to reach double-digit touchdowns this season if another Colts receiver can't demand some attention out there. Pierre Garcon caught a 48-yard TD bomb, but was only targeted three times. Austin Collie? Hardly a whimper. And at this rate, Clark will assuredly match his strong 2008 performance in both yardage and touchdowns.

Clark wasn't the only MNF fantasy stud of the night, though. One week after Maurice Jones-Drew tore up the Colts, it was Ronnie Brown's turn to let loose. Brown looked like a bull in cleats as he totaled 136 yards and two TDs on the ground. It would be nice if we could pencil Brown in for over 20 touches every game, but sadly I don't think that's gonna happen. His backfield-mate Ricky Williams received only four less touches and isn't going anywhere. Brown remains a very strong RB2 and only an RB1 when the matchup warrants.

Oh, and Ted Ginn's 11 catches for 108 yards? Not happening every week obviously, but you should continue to dig his potential as a WR3. If you're prospecting on the waiver wire, I'd first snag Rams wideout Laurent Robinson, who isn't far behind Ginn in total targets.

Other Fantasy Football Notes:
Mike Sims-WalkerIt's looking bleak in Jacksonville, but the Jags will still be useful for fantasy purposes. With Troy Williamson likely out for the season, Mike Sims-Walker will see more targets and could deliver as a WR3 depending on the week. He caught six balls for 106 yards and a TD against Arizona, and poses more of a deep threat than Torry Holt.

• A slew of offensive line injuries rocked Week 2, but none of them hurt fantasy value more than the Redskins' loss of veteran guard Randy Thomas, the team's best run-blocker. Clinton Portis should be downgraded a bit, as the 'Skins have little depth on that line. Elsewhere, Raiders guard Robert Gallery underwent surgery to repair a broken fibula and could be out six weeks. I was already beginning to worry about the Raiders offense due to the awful display by JaMarcus Russell (he's 32nd in completion percentage), and now the run-blocking will take a hit. You gotta love Darren McFadden's talent, but it's going to be an inconsistent season for all their weapons. That includes TE Zach Miller, who was blanketed by the Chiefs' defense in Week 2.

• The glimmer of good news for Portis owners is that the Lions are next up. And if you needed another reason to expect Detroit's defense to get ripped, linebacker Ernie Sims will likely be out with a shoulder injury. You should sniff out trade-high scenarios after this week's game.

• So far, it looks like the Browns may win the award for "least valuable fantasy options." Eric Mangini confirmed that Brady Quinn will stick as the starting QB in Week 3, and that's bad news for anyone hoping for more offensive spark. Quinn's yards per attempt stands at a measly 5.5 through two games.

• Saints running back Mike Bell has no structural damage to his knee, but early reports indicate he'll miss Week 3. Pierre Thomas owners holding out hope can get a little excited, though I'd caution that it won't be easy sledding against a pretty stout Bills run defense.

• My colleague Matt Snyder raves about Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox, and rightfully so after the rookie pulled down a team-high six catches for 70 yards and a score. However, coach Lovie Smith said it's still going to be a rotation and Earl Bennett will not be bumped out of the mix totally in favor of Knox. Temper expectations until the starters are more clear-cut.
