Need a last-minute fill-in for this week? 4th and 26 is here to throw you a couple deep sleepers, guys available in at least 90% of Fleaflicker leagues that could give your fantasy football team a big boost.Checked out our weekly Passed Out at Your Desk article, but still having trouble finding potential starters for today? We're here to address your problem. In 4th and 26, we scrape the bottom of the barrel looking through the most unwanted of players to try and find you some usable players for Week 2.
Remember, we're starting the Fantasy Football Tailgate at 10:30 ET this morning, so come to us with your lineup-specific questions and we'll offer our thoughts on your situation.
Mewelde Moore, RB, Steelers. We experienced a whole weekend of football between the Thursday night kickoff game and now, so let me refresh your memory on what transpired in that first game. Willie Parker looked awful. Rashard Mendenhall wasn't much better. Then, in the fourth quarter and with the game still on the line, coach Mike Tomlin went to Moore, who grabbed four balls on the way to a Steeler win. Could Moore start getting a lion's share of the carries? It's certainly possible.
Jerome Harrison, RB, Browns. With people thinking Jamal Lewis has lost a step, and with impressive rookie James Davis waiting in the wings, many will forget about Harrison. He's looked great in limited work for the Browns over the last two years, and with Davis possibly a few weeks away from contributing, Harrison could get one last chance to shine. He takes on a Denver rush defense that should allow for a few big plays.
Michael Clayton and Sammie Stroughter, WRs, Buccaneers. Anyone that saw Tom Brady pick apart the Bills secondary should be salivating at the thought of their quarterbacks or receivers taking on Buffalo. This week the Buccaneers come to town, and with Antonio Bryant not on the plane to Buffalo, that leaves many of the targets to fall to Clayton and rookie Stroughter. Clayton is your first option, while Stroughter could break a long TD.
Pierre Garcon, WR, Colts. With Anthony Gonzalez out for the near future, the starting job opposite Reggie Wayne falls to Garcon. He caught three balls in the opener, and it wouldn't be shocking to see that total double. For those of you in PPR leagues, you'll take a six-catch, 50-yard game from a last-minute replacement any day. Another one to watch in Indy is rookie Austin Collie, who will get most of the looks in the slot today.
Jermichael Finley, TE, Packers. One of the names on everyone's lips for breakout fantasy TE of 2009, Finley couldn't get it going in Week 1, gaining just six yards against the Bears. But rest assured, he'll have a monster game at some point this season, and once it comes, he'll be snatched off the wire immediately. If you don't have a high waiver claim, and you have a bench spot to burn, I'd add Finley with the hopes that he breaks out against Cincinnati.
