Damage Control: Urlacher's Season Over

Brian UrlacherDid the injury bug hit your fantasy football team like it was a car windshield moving at 100 MPH? If so, it may be time to do some Damage Control.

Quarterback

Donovan McNabb, Eagles - McNabb fractured a rib in Sunday's game against the Panthers and was originally thought to surely miss a game, maybe two. It appears now that McNabb can do no more damage to the rib by playing. Nobody is sure of his status for Week 2, but, if he can withstand the pain you'd better believe that he'll give it a try. You can't cut McNabb. If he decides that he cannot play, you're just going to have to run with your QB2 for the time being.

Wide Receiver

Hakeem Nicks, Giants - Nicks left the game in the fourth quarter with a sprained left foot. X-rays were negative and the receiver is expected to miss two to three weeks. If you need to replace Nicks, Patrick Crayton caught an 80-yard touchdown pass on Sunday and finished the day with 135 yards receiving. He's only owned in 49% of FleaFlicker leagues.

Antonio Bryant, Buccaneers - Bryant's knee was bothering him in the second half of Sunday's game. He left the game and did not return. Bryant says that instead of re-injuring the knee he was just resting it and will be in action for Week 2.

Anthony Gonzalez, Colts - Gonzalez sprained a ligament in his right knee and could be forced to miss a month of football. Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon will see more reps in the Colts offense, but there are better options for a fill-in on the waiver wire. Look at Devery Henderson who caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' blowout win.

Individual Defensive Player

Pisa Tinoisamoa, Bears - Tinoisamoa sprained the PCL in his right knee on the second play of the game on Sunday night. The extent of the injury won't be known until further tests are completed on Monday, but he could miss some substantial time. Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton had ten tackles and a forced fumble on Sunday against Miami and could be a fantastic replacement.

Brian Urlacher, Bears - Urlacher is done for the season. He dislocated his wrist and underwent surgery on Monday to repair the damage. It's next to impossible to replace Urlacher on the waiver wire. London Fletcher had a very good game on Sunday recording 11 solo tackles and is always a great source for IDP points.

Atari Bigby, Packers - Bigby sprained his knee forcing him to leave the game. Team officials say they want to re-evaluate after a few days of rest, but Bigby could be in danger of missing a few games. If he does, Abram Elam recorded eight tackles and a sack on Sunday and could be a nice fill-in.

Reggie Hayward, Jaguars - Hayward fractured his leg on Sunday and will miss significant time. To fill the pass rush needs for your fantasy team look at Darren Howard who had two sacks on Sunday and had ten last season.

Offensive Line

Jeff Faine, Buccaneers - Tampa Bay was set up to be a run-first offense. That plan took a hit as Faine, a leader on the offensive line, went down with an apparent triceps tear. He'll be gone for four to six weeks.
