Injuries to Watch: Week 1

Pierre ThomasWhether it's torn, sprained, broken or just needs to be taped, Injuries to Watch will keep you up to date on injuries around the NFL and how they'll affect your fantasy football team.

Quarterback

Matt Cassel, Chiefs - Cassel has been limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He feels that his knee is making progress every day but head coach Todd Haley said that he and his coaching staff won't be able to make a decision on whether Cassel is healthy enough to play until Sunday.

Matt Schaub, Texans - Schaub participated fully in practice on Thursday and his ankle looks much better according to coaches. He's expected to play on Sunday.

Marc Bulger, Rams - Bulger continues to throw with his pinky finger taped and hasn't yet participated in full drills in practice. He is throwing the ball well though and is expected to play on Sunday.

Tom Brady, Patriots - Brady practiced in full on Thursday and is expected to play in Week 1.

Kyle Orton, Broncos - Orton has been wearing a glove all week to help with his grip. His injured right index finger is getting better every day and the Broncos are hopeful that he'll play on Sunday.

Running Back

Knowshon Moreno, Broncos - Moreno got to take the no-contact jersey off on Wednesday and participate in some contact drills. He's still not going 100% in practice but his knee is making strides every day and Moreno is expected to at least play in a limited role on Sunday, maybe more.

Pierre Thomas, Saints - Thomas has not participated in practice all week. He's not been completely ruled out for Sunday but coaches say he would have to be healthier than the player taking his spot. All the other running backs for the Saints are nearly 100% healthy.

Sammy Morris, Patriots - Morris has been limited in practice all week due to his finger injury. His status for Monday night is unknown.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars - Jones-Drew has participated fully in practice all week even though he has a shin bruise. Head coach Jack Del Rio says that Jones-Drew's availability has never been in question. He'll play on Sunday.

Justin Fargas, Raiders - Head coach Tom Cable is worried that Fargas may miss the game on Monday night after pushing too hard in rehab and suffering a setback to his injured hamstring.

Jonathan Stewart, Panthers - Is back at practice and participated fully on Thursday as he's been slowed with an Achilles injury. He's expected to play on Sunday but watch to see if his work load is normal.

Brian Westbrook, Eagles - Westbrook worked in all of the drills on Thursday and took part fully in practice. His knee injury won't keep him off of the field on Sunday.

Wide Receiver

Antonio Bryant, Buccaneers - Bryant practiced sparingly on Thursday as he's still recovering from meniscus surgery. Coach Raheem Morris expects Bryant to play on Sunday.

Chris Henry, Bengals - Henry did not practice on Thursday with a thigh injury. Everyone's favorite sleeper receiver is considered probable for week 1.

Bernard Berrian, Vikings - Berrian only partially participated in practice on Thursday as he's trying to make his way back from a hamstring injury.

Kevin Walter, Texans - After missing practice again on Thursday due to his hamstring, Walter is a game-time decision for the Texans.

Anquan Boldin, Cardinals - Boldin tested his hamstring on Thursday and then sat out practice. Coaches remain hopeful that Boldin will be able to play on Sunday.

Steve Breaston, Cardinals - Breaston is slowed with a leg contusion but worked through every drill on Thursday and should play on Sunday. He may not return punts though in case he's needed to play an expanded role if Boldin cannot play.

Deion Branch, Seahawks - Branch didn't participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday and is questionable for Sunday with a hamstring injury.

Wes Welker, Patriots - Welker was at practice on Thursday but was very limited. The status of his knee injury and his ability to play on Monday are unknown.

Tight End

Benjamin Watson, Patriots - Watson's hamstring was well enough to all him to participate in full practice on Thursday and is expected to play on Monday night.

Kicker
Jason Hanson, Lions - Hanson's knee seems well enough to allow him to kick field goals on Sunday. He may not be kicking off though.

Individual Defensive Player

Bob Sanders, Colts - Sanders has not participated in practice all week due to a knee injury and is doubtful to play on Sunday.

John Abraham, Falcons - Abraham is listed on the injury report with a knee injury even though he says that he's fine. He is expected to play on Sunday.
