Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's daily gathering of links from around the web, covering the goings-on in NFL Training Camp which have an impact on fantasy value. The Kansas City Chiefs got really bad news on Sunday after quarterback Matt Cassel went down Saturday night with an injury.
It appears, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, that Cassel could miss the season opener as he'll be out two to four weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his knee. The injury isn't expected to require surgery but will force Tyler Thigpen into action.
If Cassel can't play, Tyler Thigpen is expected to start the season. Thigpen, who had been the subject of trade rumors earlier this week, played in 14 games last season when the Chiefs went through injuries at quarterback. He finished the season with 18 touchdown passes, 12 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 76.0.
Cassel also suffered an ankle injury, but that was not considered as serious as the MCL injury. This news will surely cause fantasy football owners who have already drafted Cassel to seriously search for another early-season option, especially if Cassel is a No. 1 option on (a strategy not suggested) said fantasy squads.
For those that haven't drafted yet, Cassel surely will fall out of the seventh round now. Cassel's average draft position of 83.9 should plummet considerably, placing him behind quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Eli Manning.Other Camp Notes With Fantasy Spin:
• Terrell Owens was back at practice on Monday and participating fully in drills after missing three weeks with a sprained toe. This news is wonderful for the Bills who need every bit of help they can get to jump-start this offense.
• Mike Preston of The Baltimore Sun says that Todd Heap looked like the tight end of old as he caught four passes on Saturday night, one for a touchdown. He goes on to say that the Ravens need a "big-body receiver who can make a few plays in the middle of the field, and especially inside the red zone, and it could be Heap."
• Apparently Eric Mangini still hopes to milk free meals or other gifts from both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, as the quarterbacks are still being kept in the dark as to who will start. Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer says that Mangini still wants to "continue to go through the process".
• Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News says that Josh Morgan is in danger of losing his starting job to Arnaz Battle.
• Braylon Edwards thinks he was tipping his routes last season. Following the mantra, "Work the first 10 yards off the ball as if it pays the same every time." Steve Doerschuk of CantonRep.com says Edwards could work his way back to the Pro Bowl.
• Hakeem Nicks caught six passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday night. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports this was good timing for Nicks and could propel him up the depth chart and to a bigger role in the offense.

• Chansi Stuckey opened the eyes of the coaching staff Saturday night and Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post says that Stuckey and quarterback Mark Sanchez seem to be developing a relationship.
• Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press says that Daunte Culpepper will likely be the Week 1 starting quarterback for the Detroit Lions.
• Limas Sweed and Rashard Mendenhall put out performances on Saturday that warrant expanded roles in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, says Scott Brown of the Tribune-Review.
• On WEEI radio in Boston, Tom Brady says that he's certainly expecting to be ready to play in New England's opening Week 1 game.
