Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's daily gathering of links from around the web, covering the goings-on in NFL Training Camp which have an impact on fantasy value.'Tis the season for the NFL to have breaking news almost every other day it seems. Thankfully, for Plaxico Burress, maybe - just maybe - the whole Brett Favre lovefest in Minnesota will overshadow him on this dark day. OK, who are we kidding? His story is sure to trump most anything for the next few weeks. The same Plaxico Burress who caught the winning touchdown from Eli Manning in the Super Bowl is going to prison for two years.
Yup, the same Plaxico who we used to draft on a regular basis in fantasy football is now rendered useless. And thus let's cue up the "who is gonna take Plaxico" jokes for our fantasy drafts. Shameful. This certainly leaves one to ponder if this is it for another once promising Michigan State WR. Bottom line, don't draft Plaxico.
Now, what happened around the camps, because isn't that what's most important?
Other Camp Notes With Fantasy Spin:
• The Browns can't seem to make up their mind about their QB situation. Seriously, is it gonna be Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson? Coach Eric Mangini continues to keep both guys in limbo. However, most will argue that Quinn is eventually going to be the guy. What transpires on Saturday night against the Lions could go a long way to determine who gets the nod. Yup, this a huge opportunity for Anderson to show what he's got left in the tank. As always, this situation is worth monitoring simply based on the belief that whoever wins the gig could hold some value as a back-up fantasy QB.
• You may have heard that Brett Favre will most likely start this weekend against the Chiefs. Sweet, can't wait. Well, at least we'll get to see old gray beard take a few snaps and sling it.
• At Steelers camp today QB Ben Roethlisberger was hurt in practice when one of his linemen fell towards Big Ben's feet. Roethlisberger took the afternoon off, drinking Gatorade and icing his sore foot. This is probably not much case for concern for the time being. However, monitor the situation as we await the "official" status of the injury. Then again it's quite typical for Big Ben to be banged up and still play each week.
• Antonio Gates won't profess the he's for sure 100%, but the scoop from Chargers camp is that he is primed for a big season. Gates is arguably as healthy as he's been in the past two years and possibly as healthy as he's gonna be. Word is Philip Rivers is ready to utilize Gates like it's 2005 all over again and make sure he's the focal point of the Chargers passing offense. That's always food for thought for those who've moved Gates a few pegs down the TE hierarchy of fantasy football.
• The Ochocinco story just gets more and more insane. In case you missed it; Chad Ochocinco booted the game deciding PAT in a win over the Patriots. Deep sigh. Yes, apparently Ocho is the back-up/emergency kicker on this team. Who knew? However, what should be noted is that Ocho actually hauled in three passes for 69 yards. Not too shabby. And yes, it's confirmed that you can't use Ochocinco in any league as a kicker. That's just not gonna happen.
• Peyton Manning is healthy this Preseason and any thoughts of a sluggish start like last season seem highly unlikely. Manning tossed a few early TD's against the Eagles on Thursday night. I've never understood why anyone could not consider Manning in the same fantasy class as Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Let's think that over again. Thanks.
