Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: The Many Possibilities of Michael Vick

Michael VickCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's daily gathering of links from around the web, covering the goings-on in NFL Training Camp which have an impact on fantasy value.

Of course, the humongous news remains to be Michael Vick. It's just hard to ignore the impact this signing will have on the national sports media for the next several days and weeks. However, from a fantasy perspective I'm sure the wheels are spinning in motion for what might lie ahead for Vick. Will the Eagles instill the Wildcat? How cool will it be to see him on the field as a potential decoy/RB/WR/option with Westbrook, McNabb, Jackson and the rest of the Eagles weapons? Will he play any QB? Is he going to be able to play this season? And lastly, does he still have it?

Ah yes, so hard to ignore the many details and question marks that are surely to linger from this ongoing story. That's why Vick is at the center of the sports and fantasy football universe for right now.

What else happened to lead us into the weekend?

Other Camp Notes With Fantasy Spin:

Steve Smith returned to the practice field for the Panthers on Friday, further proving what a dedicated "warrior" this guy really is. You can't say enough about a dude who some thought may have broken his shoulder or sustained significant damage. Still though, is it too soon for Smith? What's the rush? As long as he's healthy for Week 1 that's really all that matters. We don't want to have to wait two weeks for Smith again this season.

• Vince Young prepares to face the fans that booed him off the field. This will be his first appearance at home since injuring his shoulder in Week 1 last season. A lot has changed for the once promising quarterback. He's still leaps and bounds behind Kerry Collins. And about the only way he's gonna sniff a starting role this season is if Collins gets injured or Young stashes some beer in Collins locker. Either way, Young will be out to prove he's worthy of the No. 2 QB role and that someday he can lead this or another franchise.

Fleaflicker Fantasy Football• It's time to "get yo' roll on." Daunte Culpepper will draw the first start of the preseason for the Lions at QB. Jim Schwartz has been mum about who is opening day QB will be and Matthew Stafford has certainly pushed Culpepper in camp. However, a nod here leans more toward solidifying what many speculated to be the obvious; this will be Daunte's inferno on opening day. How long that lasts ... well that's TBD.

The Vikings have chosen to go with a fresh incense for their first preseason game. Sorry, bad joke, but when I think Sage Rosenfels I think it sounds like a fragrance. Anyhow, another QB battle appears to be shaking out with Sage most likely getting the official nod over Tarvaris Jackson. However, have we really 100% heard the last of Brett Favre? OK, moving on.

• Reports are that Rashard Mendenhall is looking like a bust. After a shaky camp, the spotlight was on Mendenhall to come up big in the first exhibition game of the season. Instead, he hammered out a mere 24 yards rushing on only nine attempts. Still though, the rookie Isaac Redman brought home two scores to go with his 10 carries. Not time to panic just yet, but come on Rashard ... let's see what you got.

• So much for the fantasy crush we had on Ryan Torain last year. He hurt his knee in his first game as the starter and now the Broncos have said farewell.

• Lastly, how about the performance of LeSean McCoy on Thursday night? Not sure if you caught it, but the rookie appears to be a potential late-round sensation for the Eagles. Yes, it's only preseason, but he ripped off 55 yards rushing and beamed of upside. Learning under the careful study of Brian Westbrook and then being able to pounce on possible touches if and when Westbrook gets hurt this year (as always), speaks to the positives of McCoy. Don't sleep on this kid.
