Man, I hate being wrong. Throughout the entire Sunday Morning Tailgate, I told people not to bother with Tashard Choice, and he ends up compiling 166 total yards against the stout Steelers defense. It doesn't get much tougher on a running back than playing in Pittsburgh, so you'd think it's clear sailing for Choice from here on out. I, however, will not be so hasty.
The Cowboys were surprised that Marion Barber couldn't play this week, so he won't be out much longer. Plus, the schedule doesn't get any easier. The Giants and Ravens are on the docket. The Cowboys will find much more success throwing the football against those teams at home than they did in Pittsburgh, so the reliance on Choice will go way down -- even if he plays.
If you own Marion Barber and Choice is on the waiver wire, you have to grab him. I'm just not expecting anything even remotely resembling the yardage/touch output again this season, or next, for that matter.
Other Reality Checks
Reggie Wayne and Joseph Addai, Colts - I don't even know what to say anymore. These two guys are murdering fantasy teams everywhere, even when the Colts offense is working at full capacity, as it was yesterday. The Colts play the Lions and Jags in the next two weeks, so it's easy to say you must have these guys in your active lineups. I still would, but I can't blame owners of these two for frustration.
Shaun Hill, 49ers - He's becoming a pretty reliable quarterback, as the Niners continue to blossom under Mike Singletary. The matchup for this coming week isn't great (at Miami), but he's got the Rams in fantasy Super Bowl week. You can win your league with Shaun Hill. Man, isn't fantasy football great?
Larry Johnson, Chiefs - If that's all he can do against the Broncos on the ground, you have no worth for me. I'm sitting him against the Chargers and Dolphins in the next two weeks if I'm an owner. Of course, you know I'm not -- I've been hating on LJ all season.
Seneca Wallace, Seahawks - Unbelievably, the Seahawks are a better team with Wallace taking snaps than they are with Matt Hasselbeck. How about 20 fantasy points against the Patriots defense for Seneca? If Hasselbeck is unable to play next week, Wallace is a definite start possibility against the hapless Rams. Again, fantasy football is so great.
Matt Schaub, Texans - Too bad cheap shot artist Jared Allen sidelined Schaub for the past month, because he showed once again what kind of promise the Texans passing attack has. Getting the Titans at home isn't the best of circumstances for your fantasy playoff quarterback, but there isn't much that would scare me off Schaub at this point. He's a bonafide No. 1 QB in all leagues.
Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson, Packers - Boy was I wrong about this situation. Jackson looked worlds better than Grant the previous week against Carolina (11 carries for 80 yards), and Grant was hampered a bit by thumb problems. I figured at least some work for Jackson. Instead, Grant got 19 carries and Jackson saw zero. It appears as though the Packers are dead-set on staying the course with Grant, even thought Jackson seems to have more potential. Sigh.

Unbelievably, those are three really solid QB options for your playoffs. Who would have thought that coming into the season? I'd rank them, based upon matchups and recent performance:
1. Thigpen
2. Schaub
3. Cassel
It's really, REALLY close between the three, though. Hopefully you get lucky and grab the correct guys.
